Starting the 1st day of the sem until now, i never feel good, assignment drive me crazy, even take a rest also will let me feel guilty. haha...ya,when i saw all of my fren list on msn show their status on buzy den i wil feel that so it force me to do work.Since i noe that architecture is a tough course but once i choose it,i wunt giv up, jus try my best on every subject.

No doubt,the favourite subject for me in thi sem is Design studio but the second project is sooooooo hard, ya.cause we ned to design an art gallery at an existing building, it limited my idea thinking but it is a great time for me to challenge myself. I learn quet alot things on this sem also, building science, services, construction...its good, i gain knowledge on dos subject. About theory class, erm...i feel happy when i noe there is no any exam for it, feel cool that we can have a movie during the class but they are jus a desert before a meal. Dam..lols...Since my english standard is so bad u noe, dos essay is very hard for me ,i cant even understand some of dem as well, sometimes when i bloging, i dun noe wat i am talking about also...lols,wat a shame~

But everything got their good and bad, i like the essay '' An Architecture of Seven Senses '' it let me noe that we can feel the art in defferent way, in architecture view , we cant jus see through the building, we ned to feel it as well. Some of the theory i oso confuse u noe, like the '' concept of place '' place in a space?..space whithin a place?...lols..ya.i noe they both related. I also like the trip to Kellie castle, it is a nice place even it is just a 1 day trip but i can say tat it is a nice trip.

Like i say at the 1st,i din feel good in this sem...i cant stop thinking on design, until now, i dun like my design oso..there is still a better way to make it better...and i am thinking so hard...and my laziness will killing me on it. i noe i mus work harder, thinking on sumthing not just right and wrong. arh !

Best moment during dis sem?...non stop doing assignmetn and pay for expensive printing?...trust me,u wil nvr feel greats when u are archi student.i thk i wil just feel the best moment during the sem break...hahaha..ohya,adding here...the great moment in dis sem is praise by my lecture in a design group work,since i m archi student,it let me feel good.

I got my own quote '' do only lo '' wat a postive thinking huh...ya,wat can we do?...jus kep doing on dos assignment,submit on time....try to get a nice grade?...Life is bored?...

There is a chinese quote i want to share here..in english '' when u feel that u are kep doing the same thing everyday or non stop repeating it...try to look backward ,u will see everything u did makes a different on ur life.''....mayb i can translate better but due to my english level,i hope u can understand it...=)

ASTHETICS, RUINS & SPACE -KELLIE'S CASTLE-

Another over 100 years old building in Malaysia.This is the 1st time i been there.Well the place was abit quiet & hidden outside city area. As I walked around Kellie's Castle yet to be discover,i fall in love and attract by the beauty of this place,the castle locate at a very peaceful place,nature elements surroundings.Ohya,i still heard alot ppl said tat there is ghost there but i cant see any of dem,how sad ya.lolx

Because of Kellie(the owner of the building) fascination with the Hindu religion and Indian culture, He plan was for this house to share similar architecture to those of Madras, with all its bricks and tiles imported from India. He even employed a group of Indian labourers to build his dream house, to keep the Kellas House authentically Indian. According to differing accounts, it was either a gift for his wife or a home for his son.

THE BEAUTY OF THE BUILDING

The corridor beside the master room and his daughter room, u can feel the morish style architecture here and the column show a repetitive through the long corridor. The decoration and texture of the materials brings out the beauty of this place.
Contrast-The bulding is actually destroyed during world war 2.The facade of the building is mixed with two different type of material,the white one is built during the restoration.They is trying to brings back the soul of the building but from here u can still can see the different between the new and old architecture.Its makes the building unique.

RUINS.Loneliness- This reminds me of St Paul's Cathedral facade in Macau. The single wall with openings.This is the 1st bunglow of Kelie Smith,destroyed at world war 2.The small plants on the wall brings life to the old lonely wall.Nature life up everythings.

ABANDONED VOID-Actually here will be the lift shaft of the building(The 1st in Malaysia)but failed to import frm Portugal so it becomes a void.You can see the natural light import from the arch window.Repetitive form creates rhythm, one can feel the volume and distance of the long void.

Texture.Strength-This place is the guardhouse of the building.It built up brick by brick.The bricks is the finishes of the wall and it stand there for over 100 years.This show the true materials and workmanship of the building.The broken bricks tells all to us.

JUST FOR LAUGH -There is a joke from 1 of my frens,he asked me...chia wei~Mr smith is dam rich rite?..i said,of cox la,he got a estate and a castle wei !...he asked me agn...den y the building no car porch huh?...i answered...how i noe?mayb there is no car on tat time rite?...he start laughing....hahahha~nonono,u see the roof top,he got a helicopter pad there...==''

An Architecture of The 7 senses

The article is saying about the human senses due to architecture experience by using hear, see, smell, touch and feel.I do believe that most of the building have provide most of them to us and we can feel that.All of the building do brings visual feel to people like hows they mixed the building to the enviroment,sometimes landscape can also brings a different feeling to us due to the architect design,its a visual strategy used on building.The enviroment surround the building provide the feels to people,different enviroment provide different feeling to people.Like the building in the forest and the building in the urban city,both of them create different feeling to people.
And the Material of the building is also a important rule for people to experience the sense.Material have their own texture and the building itself is a structure so that it is easy for us by using our skin to feel it.
For me,i think the enviroment is the most important thing to the building,we can even smell the building through the enviroment,we can having fresh air in the forest but not in the city.

I think the Falling water by frank lloyld wright is well presented all of the experience of senses in architecture.The building is located in a forest which is fullfill with green enviroment.And the architect using a very good strategy like the way he fit the building on it but no demolish the area and its create a better view to us because from the view we can dicrect see through the soul of the building and the forest,its also show the contrast between the building and the enviroment.You can even feel the nature when u are inside the building,the material cheoosing is using the local material which is just taking from the site and the texture on the material brings a strong feeling to people as well.Its is different with those man-made material.Thats the way the architect combine the building with the nature.Because the forest is a very quiet place so u can heard the nature at here,the flow of river,the air movement,the voice from animals.

All of the senses are not hard to apply in a building once u wide used the enviroment and taking benefits on it.A good design that filled with a better site context can brings a great feeling to people.As a basic conclusion here,the word ''enviroment'' is very important to a building,depend on hows the designer gonna used it.

Monuments, Testimony & Memory

''Tugu Negara"the national monument which is a great bronze sculpture erected to commemorate the soldiers who gave up their lives in the triumph during World War II and the Emergency (1948-60).The seven men from the Malaysian Armed Forces holding the national flag, each symbolising one of seven qualities: leadership, unity, strength, vigilance, suffering, courage and sacrifice.It is one of the largest freestanding sculptures in the world. In honour of the nation's heroes.
Beside the National Monument are the ASEAN Gardens.Waterscape and landscape combined harmoniously in this garden located just below the National Monument. The jewish Museum,Germany.The building covers 2 german jewish hisrory and its is a combination of old and new,it consist 2 building.The new part of building is designed by architect Daniel Libeskind. For me,it is a decon and modern style building,no matter the shape and form,it is very intresting.For the facade of the building,it brings a strong feel to people due to the material they used and those line on the facade make the building feel mysterious because of the narrow opening of the buiding(the lines on the facade represent as the opening),make people feel like go inside and explore the whole building. The interior of the building is very depth inside guides by the natural light,the light was imported to the interior through the narow opening,there is also some daylight import from the roof top. just like Tadao Ando style,the way hows he import day light into the building. The architect done a great job on the building because when people see through the building it reminds people alot of things,i mean the history.
It is hard to find those thing in Malaysia.Malaysia building are lack of art and abstract concept.We have great architect as well but why we dunt try to do it,just apply some on the culture and historical side,make it a masterpiece.Lets mix the art with the cities. Malayisa Architecture building are too limited ady,i can say that most of the building basic form is square.I thk it is limited by the UBBL rules and some old thinking mayb,i thk that the different with other country.Just take the jewish meuseum as example,a zic-zac shape of building is just sit on the city.Do u think that Malaysia goverment will approved that?

Lets talks about our national meuseum.It is easy to see what different between the two meuseum rite.There is no any artistic design can be found at our national meuseum.The facade is nothing special and there is alot of local building using almost the same facade,0.0''...i does't means that no good but there is still some place can have a little bit changing rite?
Muzium Negara is a palatial structure built in the style of Rumah Gadang, an aspect of Minangkabau architecture. Its facade comprises elements of traditional Malay and modern features. ya,i thk thats the good way to telling people about the history, culture and traditions of malaysia But it is just direct translating from the building.how bout adding some artistic elements?Make it different with those local building.From here we can see that Malaysia(i mean at architecture thinking)is still a conservative country.Is time to tell them to try the new things ady.

But, when u talk about the musuems, monuments, statues. I think malaysia did a good job by how we presenting our heros and the way we pass through the culture and history to our next generation.

Remembering the Home

In my life time,i had been stay in two different type of house,bungalow and semi-d.i moving into a semi-d since 1995.Both of them are in a same form which is a square and symmetry.

My dad is a contractor and he built up our home now.Not design from any Architect.Because lack of the knowledge of architecture,my dad din do any site analysis before build up the form and it doesn't match with the environment.The whole building is just paste on a piece of land,a huge land.The building is created by concrete brick which brings heavy and stable to people.My dad also create a huge compound surrounding the building and its expose under the sunlight.(it is too bad that wasting a large space)The plan of the building is square in form and separate it into space.The living room is the largest space for my house,its a hierarchy of the building,that's good because living room is also a gathering area.Behind the living room is a courtyard but because adding members to the family my dad transform the courtyard into a room.

The building provide a better ventilation and natural light,it an open space from living room to the kitchen,And there is a huge opening provided at the living room and kitchen so that daylight and air can passing through the whole building.I think this is the best part for my house.i mean in architecture view,it shows energy effiency.If i got the chance to become an Architect,i will do renovation on my house,using the concept of sustainable change it into a low energy house,of course i wil adding vegetations at the huge compound.

I believe that the place people growing up will influences a persons consciousness and design thinking.I m try to make my house to become a better building and i am moving foword on it.

Heidegger's Thinking on Architecture

From the essay,we can know that how importants between the enviroment with a building and the author create a rule within it.The author describe the natura is a work of art and he took the greek temple as a example.Through the few point he mensioning in the essay, i agreed with the sentences "The nature is a work of ast''.Ya,because without the enviroment,a building can become nothing.The enviroment giving birth to the building.But,some other people said,we build or design a building is to Fit to the enviroment.I think both of them are related(architecture and enviroment).To create a great building,it need a support by an enviroment.What does the enviroment have?...After i read through the essay it seems like Everthing can be an enviroment,like the nature(the author describe the reflecting of sunlight even the luster and gleam is an enviroment too) and the living things as well. Thats why we need to do an site analysis and take note on human culture before design an building.

In the other paragraph,the author comes out a theory ''The Origin Of the Work of Art'' ,whats i understand about this word is same the the meaning of Enviroment Friendly(From Architecture view).And from his theory we can konw why the Greek temple want to located at the middle of rock-cleft valley.By no destroyed anything on the site,the people build the temple there.It's good and we can see through how ppl using the site context at early century,makes a combination between the enviroment and structure/building.Brings the enviroment as the natural landscape to the building.

In the others side,the suthor oso mension about the word ''Language keeps the world''.Actually i dun understand what he is talking about.Why he think thats language is the original art?Man dwell in language?..i think i can know more about this in class rite?..LOLS.But i quet agreed with the sentence here "Poetry speaks in images''.Contrast,which let the invisible be seen.ya,even though a building also need a hierarchy too.The author oso mension about a painter here.named Van Gogh and his drawing ''representational image''.From Architecture view,a building is mute if it just a building there,but if the building mixed with the enviroment,its shows alot of meaning.but without it,the building is jus a sick structure jus like the author mension ''non-representational images''.

Other then that,the author also describe the building is just a only location,room as the space and is provided for the locations.Boundry as threshold,it separate the building to have indoor and outdoor.It's so true,space birngs functions to the building,the building that without space can say that it is jus a shape,not only the enviroment but also the space giving birth to the building.Boundry provide a better connection between the indoor and ourdoor,brings comunication to them.

''Inhabited landscape'',the gap between earth and sky is a place,a place that fullfilled the nature elements.The word ''inhabited landscape''...for my opinion,i thk is lived with the landscape-nature as the landscape.Thats the point i agreed with.[http://www.designobserver.com/media/pdf/The_Inhabited__1195.pdf]
The landscape elements must adapt to,grow from and extend to the architectural/structural concept,and establish connections and sperations betweem surrounding neighbourhood and region.The enviroment and the landscape is an art for architecture.

For my conclusion,everything can be an art.even the language as well.Just depend on how we using it.The essay also describe very well in how to used and taking benefits from the nature/enviroment.Hows the building show its important between man and landscape and makes a good connections within the structure and nature

The Concept Of Place

Its a long essay for everyone i thk and i get stunned for few second when i saw it.After reading for few times,it's still hard to be understand.Let's talk about wat i know.The author of the essay is explaning about the research of Concept of place and there is some complicated thinking for me which is the different view of psychologically and also architecturally.

At the starting of the essay,the author had already mension about the technical of mobile life,it showed the comunication and interacting between ppl.Some of the project is the Walking City by Ron Herron and The Nwe Babylon by Dutch Utopian Constant Neiuwehius.There is no place for the city but interaction and through tat we can know that the comunication of the ppl is more imiportant than the place thy lived in.Erm,for my own opinion,human/people ned a stable and tidy place for live otherwise the culture , attitudes , and also emotions wil affect human behaviour.

Through a psychologically view,the author said human get to a place when thy are still a kids which means wat thy see or wat thy feel are send to their memory and start to adapt new place thorugh life experience.The concept of space will not affected by human being but controled by human action.This a quet true statement beacause human is a decission maker ,thy wil design the space by wat thy like not jus folow a rule or wat.
And,human design a place is not by randomly but thy wil folow the function of the space.for an example,people using different space to do different activities.Tats why people create more space within it.

For my opinion in architecture view,place is a site for architect or designer to adding structure or building in it and make it useful.by using a place, architect can create space and then adding function in it. This will be served the owner / user whon use the space.

As a conclusion,i am agreed some of the points tat show us in the essay but mostly is hard to let me understand.Psychologic and architecture is needed to be creating a space and place need an imageable building or structure which wil offer the identities of a place and it have to be a valid house , city and also country for us to create our own house and make us become the citizen of the wolrd. @@''

The Minority Report.

Actually i dun understand wats the movie talking about and it is hard to understand.Mayb it din show with subtitle below.But nvm,i download it with chinese subtitle by myself.XD...After watching agn in my house,i feel tat its still complicated.haha...Let me explain in simple way.The story line was held on 2054 and there is a goverment department called Pre Crime,they have 3 special person with super nature power like knowing...?...thy can see through thg before it hapen and the cops using their power to catch or arrest any criminal before thy start off any crime in the city.(prevent crime before it hapen)..wow~

The most impressive part for me about this movie is when John Anderson run off by the agent/cops catching,tats the part with alot of ACTION i thk..GUNS WITHOUT BULLET,wow..such a hi-tech equipment huh...and the others part is in the apartment,the agent using a vry SMALL INSECT-LOOK SPY to taking information.One simple conclusion on it,hi-tech equipment brings convenience to ppl.Hmm,about the unimpressive part...if its unimpressive means tats i wunt remember it rite?...XD

The building in this movie all designed in a vry modern and simple way,ya it is match with the story line which is held in the future(2054) and u can see the arrangement of the city and the transportation have a big defferent from now.All of them are mixed with high technology equibment.We can clearly see the combination between architecture with technologyin this movie and the way how thy depend on each other.

According to this movie,there is 1 massage brings to me is that we can make decision in our life and decided or change the future.We can do it by human being but not Gods.But weather good or bad,its depand on ourself thinking.From the movie,we can see how thy minimize the crime rate by using the super nature power.Its a good things rite?

The movie brings a better design thinking for us nows a day.Because the story was held on the future and we can alrady see through the architecture design on that time.I thk it has improve my modern design thinking and one good news for us is human architecture thinking was see through over 40 years from now.Thy design not just the building but also cities and technology.

[MY STORY]-past tense to present tense

This is my 1st time creating a own blog...erm,how to start? Lets see the brief 1st..Ohya...i ned to tell about my story here.Okay,dun waste time,lets start!

I am chia wei here and was having my wonderful 21 now.I coming from muar,a small,relaxing and peaceful place,all of the people there are so kind and friendly.Ya,is different with KL,the lifestyle here are so fast.I came to KL for study on 2006 and was taking Diploma on tat time,but now i m having my degree 2nd year ady.OMG,times fly.

I still remember when i was a kids i like to imagine,sketching...of course, i m a playful kids on tat time...and i oways folow my dad to his site,he is a contractor,and he oways tell me about building,constraction,bla bla bla.i feel boring when i listen it cox i m jus a kid(left ear in right ear out) haha.But when i getting older and older...i starting fall in love with building,art,and oso design(i thk its influence by my lovely parents)thz to them,i like architecture vry much.After finish my secondary sch,i get a letter by goverment .Wats for?...NATIONAL SERVICE.ya,its a good time for me cox i thk i grown up alot after NS,noes alot of frens.Wat a wonderful time huh(starting thinking when he was in NS...XD)...If i din make a mistake,i start my diploma on june 2006.this is my 1st time leaving my homwtwn and start my life at here...2006-05-22.

The reason why i choosing architecture as my field beacause a simple theory...i like building,i like their shape,and i like to explore new thing in design.There is not a must in an art so there is oso no right and wrong on it but just why and be creative on ur design.I like the way of sustainable architecture,the way how thy wide used of nature and enviroment and i started moving foward on it.I thk this is the best experience tat i studying in archtecture....Bout the worst one,erm...i thk is we hav no weekends and holidays,lack of sleep..ya i noe,its a unhealthy life style but i wunt stoped it.

I hav a bad habbits that i ned to change is my laziness...the worst habbits ever and its hard to change.arghhhhhhhhh...4get it...I m easy going ppl...every difficult thgs came to me become nthg...i thk it cover bek to my bad habbits rite..haha..even las minute wrk i can do it ok also..(but not execellent)haha..i hav my own theory here as well '' just do it lah''..this word let me feel power when i was having alot of assignment.(even think so/too much u also ned to submit the assignment rite?)..so jus do it =)

Whats keeps me going on?...one word '' the passion of dream''...when u failed,try agn and never stop believing and dun 4get there is no shortcuts to any place worth going...never,ever lose ur passion to dream...thats me (''.)v
